Surrealism - Save The World

This is my first try on photo manipulation. It's my collge's CG class project.

Here's its description...

This is an final outcome of a digital technique of manipulation base on the topic surrealism composition. For this particular artwork, the theme applied was the environment issue.

Basically it portrays the disaster which formed by human did and globalization. The whole world was destroyed and nothing’s left behind, only dry land with sand, dark sky and thunder which show how extreme the problem is. There’s only a hope which symbolize by the sunflower on top of the dead tree and the sunshine only shines on it. Everyone wants to reach for the only hope. Reason why the hands are attached to the land are the world is damaged, there seem like almost no hope at all, human beings are drawn to the very down situation. Now, they rise to reach for that only hope. The sizes of the hands maybe vary to symbolize different range of people, young to old. There ring on some of the hands to symbolize different status of people, married or not and even rich and the poor.

Composition-vise, the pyramid composition is use to bring out balance in the artwork. Dark and dull colours are use to portray the hopeless and dull feel of the artwork. There’s not much complicated aspects applied to the artwork because to bring out the message in a simple way, a simple composition with a strong message.
